The LA and London-based independent film company, best known for the 2022 “Unprecedented” doscuseries featuring exclusive access to Donald Trump, will award a grand prize of $5,000 to competition winner
NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. — Los Angeles and London-based AJH Films announced today that it is partnering with DOC NYC, America’s largest documentary film festival, to co-present the 2024 DOC NYC Pitch Day competition.
Taking place on Thursday, November 14th in Manhattan, this dynamic live pitch event will give twelve finalists from around the globe a unique opportunity to present their documentary film project to a panel of distinguished industry executives for expert feedback and the chance to win a grand prize of $5,000 awarded by AJH Films.
Pitch Day is open to all documentary filmmakers, regardless of geographic location and film topic, so long as the submitted project is a work-in-progress. In addition to the grand prize, AJH Films will provide an honorarium of $500 to each finalist to cover travel costs to New York City. Finalists will also be invited to apply for the AJH Filmmakers Fund to receive additional support, mentorship, and investment opportunities.
AJH Films, founded by British director Alex Holder, is best known for “Unprecedented” on Discovery+ and Max, a three-part docuseries featuring exclusive access to President Donald J. Trump during his 2020 re-election campaign. The series, which premiered in July 2022, includes Trump’s last White House interview as President and documents his actions in the lead up to and immediate aftermath of the deadly January 6th attack at the United States Capitol. The serving of a Congressional subpoena by the U.S. House Select Committee investigating the attack catapulted Holder into the spotlight of political and entertainment press around the world.
Founded in 2010, AJH Films specializes in high-profile access documentaries with a compelling socio-political edge. The AJH Filmmakers Fund, launching in tandem with the DOC NYC festival, will seek to empower emerging filmmakers committed to creative thinking, inclusivity, truth telling, and social impact.
The submission deadline for this year’s Pitch Day competition is July 31st. Additional details, including submission requirements, are available on the DOC NYC website.
